One Man’s Mission To Wean The World Off Oil
WKRG.com News
One of the 100 most influential people of 2009 by Time magazine is a 42 year old Israeli businessman, Shai Agassi. Whom happens to be developing a global network of charging spots and “battery switch stations,” which will effectively work as gas stations for electric cars. He is a man on a mission to wean the world off it’s oil addiction and turn everyone into electric car drivers. With his California-based company, Better Place, Agassi has partnered with car maker Renault-Nissan to produce the first generation of emission-free electric cars, the Renault Fluence ZE design delivers comfort, styling and flexibility. The world’s first switchable battery electric car will be available in early 2011, which Agassi says “will not be more expensive than your average Sedan.” (more…)

Hurricanes and Snow Storms Are Getting Stronger And Lasting Longer

Home Sweet Home!
It’s 5:35 in the afternoon and for the last 10 hours we have been working on getting the generators up because power has been out since 2 in the morning. Kicking ourselves because the generators have not been prepped since Ike hit us 17 months before. But now they’re working and everybody is thawing out. Except for the noise and regretfully, the noxious exhaust, everything is like normal because home is an RV.
A local news channel always ends the newscast with one of the anchors giving his ignorant 2 cents on whatever His Arrogance deems worthy of his biting critique.
Sure enough, he is now spouting a fact that the snow and ice we are experiencing in East Texas, (which would be normal in Minot, North Dakota), is proof that global warming is nonexistent and made up by followers of Al Gore to make him a billionaire. ??? — WHAT? — Really?!! — Oh good! My middle finger just came back to life. Hope the rest of my digits follow suit, that could be embarrassing.

Only way out!
People please, nobody said only the tropical storms would get worse. ALL STORMS are getting STRONGER and LONGER. The same words that have been said all along. And as for you Mr. Head-In-The-Sand, the Earth is annoyed and like a flea on a dog, she will scratch your pompous ass right off her surface, too bad she will take the rest of us with you.
Mother Nature will right herself, one extreme way or another.
… as the green future unfolds.

As eco-friendly or green cars hit the streets, will there be a need to re-write the laws for taxis? The fight has begun in Houston, Texas with a new company called Rev Houston. They have 3 small electric cars on the streets of downtown and midtown Houston, picking up passenger who TIP instead of paying a metered fare for short trips. (more…)

Phrases like “real food” and “farm-to-table” may sound like elitist jargon tossed around at upscale restaurants. But the country’s top chefs, several of whom traveled to Washington for Obama’s inauguration this week, hope that Obama’s flair for good food will encourage people to expand their horizons when it comes to what they eat.
These chefs tout locally grown, environmentally friendly and — most importantly — nutritious food. They urge diners, even those who may never be able to afford to eat at their restaurants, to grow their own vegetables, shop at farmer’s markets and pay attention to where their food comes from.
