Since last year’s debut of the Planet Green channel it was and still is, the first and only network fully dedicated to protecting and preserving the planet. So in celebration of the 39th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, Planet Green’s parent network Discovery will launch a month-long, multi-platform Earth Day celebration. Featuring original eco-focused content across its family of networks, digital platforms and mobile channels.
Discovery’s family of networks including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel and Discovery Health will air special eco-programming and premieres. (more…)

(Silver Spring, Md.) – Planet Green, Discovery Communications’ multiplatform environmental initiative and leading non-profit environmental organization the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) today announced plans to join forces on a broad range of activities and initiatives including grassroots community outreach, public affairs and content creation.
“NRDC has taken a leadership role across the spectrum of environmental stewardship, from the water we drink to the fuels we use, to the protection of our fragile ecosystems,” said Clark Bunting, President Discovery Emerging Networks. “NRDC is an important addition to Planet Green’s distinguished group of partners as we work together to inform, engage and inspire people to create a positive and lasting legacy for the planet.”

The Endangered Species Act protects over 1,300 animals and plants listed as
threatened or endangered with specific rules on how to do that. The Bush
Administration intends to change those rules and environmentalist are accusing
the White House of “putting a fox in charge of the ‘endangered’ hen house“.
It was only in May of this year that the polar bear joined the list of
endangered species. Conservationist declared a victory because global warming
threatens the bear’s habitat and now federal agencies must consider climate
change and it’s impact on Artic ice before approving new projects like highways
