Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (OLEDs)

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Research and development in the area of OLED’s has been fast and furious
in the past few years. Numerous universities and corporations have leaped on
this exciting green innovation. OLEDs are organic light-emitting diodes,
organic because it relies on carbon-based polymers and molecules rather than
inorganic semiconductors such as silicon (like the standard LED.

Even the U.S. Department of Energy has jumped into the fray, which reports

The Green Grapevine

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

If every American walked 1 mile to get lunch instead of driving
a car. You would burn 100 calories and avoid the same amount
of CO2 pollution as taking 4.3 million cars off the road.

Do you have a trouble light? If so, change out the incandescent bulb
with a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL). You will use less energy, there will
be less heat and will be safer in tight spaces! A trouble light is
the kind with a hook at the top with a long extension cord for use
under car, in closets, etc.

A new refrigerator uses half the energy than the typical refrigerator
from 1990′s. That means half of the electricity and half of the CO2
pollution.

Hope this helps …….

Lights out!

Tonight, the world will be participating in a 1 hour
lights out campaign. During that 1 hour of lights out,
everyone is urged to replace their light bulbs with
the new bulbs.

Big cities all over the world are turning the lights
out in their downtown areas which will not only conserve
energy but show people that they are concerned about
the climate change that is happening now.

Are you going to participate? YES! I believe you will…
