In Reverse Order – (Cause it’s easier to swallow this way.) I am sure there is more but below is
my list.
—— The UGLY :
Caribbean Monk Seal – Now Extinct
Humans hunting the docile creatures for research, food and blubber left the population
unsustainable, say biologists who warn that Hawaiian and Mediterranean monk seals could
be the next to go.
Polar Bears Resort To Cannibalism As Arctic Ice Shrinks
Scientists have noticed increasing reports of starving Arctic polar bears attacking
and feeding on one another in recent years. Less than 30 years ago, there would still (more…)

Have you ever noticed on the news coverage of horrific events, the people jumping
into a freezing river to save others or racing into a burning building to rescue
victims, never, ever stop to ask about religious affliations, ethnic origins,
sexual orintation, or the native language of the rescuee? They don’t care. Because
at that moment, the only thing that matters is perserving life, even sometimes, at (more…)

And we have lots to tell you about what Air Vehicle inventor Guy Negre and
his development team in Carros, France, are doing, including the October 9
announcement of a new Air Vehicle city transport solution called the AIRPod.
Also, all the Air Vehicles get new names!
When will the 4-door, six-seat US model be available? They expect it to be
manufactured in the US in 2010. They originally planned to take reservations for
the vehicle in 2008 but now plan do so in mid-2009 as we now anticipate demand
to far exceed the early production capability. (more…)

The American coffee shop chain Starbucks has been accused of wasting more than 23 million
litres of water each day because staff are told to leave taps running non-stop.
The bizarre policy, which is aimed at preventing germs developing in the taps in its
10,000 stores worldwide, has outraged environmental groups.
Every Starbucks branch has a cold tap behind the counter providing water for a sink
called a “dipper well” used for washing spoons and utensils and the staff are banned from
turning the water off under “health and safety rules”, an investigation claims. (more…)

One year after the tornado
Farrell Allison’s house is being invaded by CBS news. Greensburg is getting
ready for the 1 year anniversary. They are going to break ground on the business
incubator, a memorial service for those that died due to the tornado, and
re-dedicate the new water tower. The seniors will be graduating, and the
President will be in town.
Dealing with the news media gives them exposure to hopefully extra monies to (more…)

Greensburg is in repeats right now so there are no new updates for you
today. Planet Green is taking a holiday along with the rest of us!
Hurricane Gustav is projected in a beeline right for me. So, forgive me
if this is too short and sweet as I need to prepare for the onslaught of
10 inches of rain and high winds starting late tonight and running through
Thursday.
Battening down the hatches, mates, we are in for a big blow but not as bad
as the Gulf Coast, mainly Louisiana, is fixin to feel.
Lessons were learned from Katrina. I will tell you this much, there have
been massive evacuation efforts going on over the weekend. Nursing homes
here in East Texas have gained anywhere from 60 to 100 extra patients.
Hospitals here are wall to wall gurneys. Prisons are being evacuated as well.
Let’s just say that all roads out of major cities have become one way and
folks are taking heed to leave. All Hotels/Motels are booked solid, We are
all hunkerin down cause there is no where else to go.
I will keep you updated as the week continues with hopes of keeping electricity
throughout. LOL, LOL, LOL…. I crack me up!

End of March
Marilyn Brown signed a contract on July 7, 2007 with Alfred Soleck, a Oklahoma
contractor from her mother’s church, to build her home. After starting the build
and needing more and more of the money up front, he left them high and dry. Mr.
Soleck was arrested in Oklahoma on federal charges that included 6 criminal counts
of home repair fraud. Volunteers have been helping the Browns in building the
house and when the volunteers have to leave, well, its one day at a time. (more…)
