Sometimes Humor is worth a thousand words
The spoken word is such a barrier at times… no matter what language you speak.
So please watch this video for interesting clarification of my last post. And I promise to get off of the numbers for a little while.
BTW, we are going to rate this a PG-13 !
… as the green world turns!

Unless You Insist On Cutting Your Nose Off To Spite Your Face
A recently released analysis of global surface temperature conducted by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), shows 2009 was tied for the second warmest year for the Northern Hemisphere and the warmest year for the Southern Hemisphere since modern records began in 1880.

This is happening while the sun is currently in a period of abnormally low solar activity, yet global warming is continuing.
January 2000 to December 2009 was the warmest decade on record. Throughout the last three decades, the GISS surface temperature record shows an upward trend of about 0.2°C (0.4°F) per decade. Except for a leveling off between the 1940s and 1970s a clear warming trend is present and persistent.
Since a NASA video is worth a thousand of my words …
Please take the journey over to the NASA site …. Global Temperature Update 2009
…… as the green future unfolds.

Helping The Environment On A Modest Budget
In 1738 English architect John F. Brondel developed the first flush valve toilet. Brondel’s invention utilized a valve to control the amount of water flushed with the simple push of a lever, making toilets more hygienic and allowed “out-house” toilets to be incorporated inside the home itself. Brondel’s innovations nearly 300 years ago have strongly influenced the bathroom as we know it today.
Fast forward to 2003, in San Francisco, California a new company incorporates themselves under the name Brondel Inc., in homage to John F. Brondel. True to the ingenuity of their namesake, the company has developed an innovative retrofit kit named Perfect Flush, to convert your conventional commode into an eco-friendly water saving dual flush model – yourself – in 30 minutes (15 minutes if you’re handy) – now for (more…)

From The Past Into The Future
New World Home is a company that designs and builds historically inspired green manufactured homes. They don’t look like manufactured homes and they certainly don’t resemble any green home you’ve ever seen. But green they are, utilizing environmentally sanctioned products and practices, and ultra-efficient manufacturing methodologies. Effectively bridging the gap between new and old. The end result represents a breakthrough in residential housing allowing New World Home to trade-mark the term – the New Old Green Modular (NOGM) home. (more…)

The Sears Tower
It has been known that commercial buildings take a lot of energy to keep them going.
The Sears Tower (Chicago) is going to be renamed to the Willis Tower later this summer and is now going to undergo a $350 million “green” retrofit for the 110-story office tower.
The plan calls for a reduction in its electricity consumption by 80 percent and water usage by 40 percent.
To achieve the savings, owner American Landmark Properties and its partners plan to: (more…)

Planet Green’s Greensburg Series
February, 2009
At the Merhoff home Mary gets her three little sleepy ones up, dressed, fed, then off to another full day of school and extra curricular activities. Which makes it very hard for this working mom to go all the way to Pratt, 30 miles away for grocery shopping. So she is very excited about Dillons the Greensburg grocery store about to re-open.
Greensburg had a population of 1,500 people before the storm, between 700 and 800 are already back. Steve Hewitt believes to get to the population back to pre-storm levels, the business incubator, schools, hospital, and streetscape needs to be completed. For people to see the reality of Greensburg coming back will motivate them to return with their business’ and residents. (more…)
