Since Hurricane Ike, the City of Houston has been trying to figure out how
to recycle the wood debris. From Galveston to North of Houston, there is
plenty of wood debris to be collected but not sent to the local landfills.
So the City has come up with a nationwide contest in hopes of someone coming
up with a recycling idea that will get rid of 5.6 million cubic yards of
tree waste cleaned up from households and front yards. (more…)

As you may have heard, Michael Moore decided to make his new film,
“Slacker Uprising,” available for free to everyone in the United States and
Canada. It is the first time ever that a major feature-length film is debuting
as a free download on the internet — legally. He is doing this for two reasons:
- 1. Next year it will be 20 years since his first film, “Roger & Me,”
- so he’d like to give those of you who’ve supported his work over
- the years a thank you gift in the form of a brand new movie; and (more…)

I’M STILL STANDING, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
I would like to let you all know that I am still standing after IKE
came to town.
Ike started hitting us during the early morning hours. Around 8:20
a.m. lost electricity. Then the winds and rains started gearing up
for a rockin and rollin day. (more…)

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all of your thoughts and humor! It is greatly
appreciated. So here is the latest.
IKE will be coming in between Freeport and Houston. These two cities are
only 50 miles apart. So, in essence, Houston is going to get hit hard for
being on the dirty end of it.
The surge in Galveston Bay will push floodwaters into Houston, damaging areas
that include the nation’s biggest refineries and NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
The Ship Channel will also get a huge part of the surge. So I am sure that
those big ships will be anchored pretty well. With the surge being predicted (more…)

Well folks, here comes hurricane Ike. His path is predicted to hit between
Galveston and Corpus Christi. Should that be the case, I am going to be hit
pretty hard as I will be on the dirty side of the storm. As of tonight, they
are predicting anywhere from 30 – 60 mph sustained winds, possible tornados,
drenching rains of 6 – 8 inches. So, it is going to be a rock n roll weekend.
I am battening down the hatches again this week. We just had a heck of a storm
day before yesterday, got 2 inches of rain in 1 hour, lots of wind along with
ground lightening and thunder that would rip your ears off. My parents across
the pasture, lost their garage roof. If they did not have this huge oak tree
in front of their back door, they would of had all of that metal, through the
back of the house. So, we are in the process of trying to figure out what to
do with the metal since Ike is on his way. The sides, the door and the rafters
are the only thing left of that garage. Not sure tarping the garage will even
last with the winds that are predicted to hit us. (more…)
