Here is a little item I found wandering around and thought it was unique.
The Spanish town of Santa Coloma de Gramenet has placed more than 450 solar
panels on top of mausoleums at its cemetery to generate power, it emerged
yesterday. The crowded, working-class town outside Barcelona decided that
flat, open, sun-drenched land was so scarce that the graveyard was the only
viable spot to site the panels, which provide enough electricity to power 60
homes. They rest on mausoleums holding five layers of coffins. The idea was
a tough sell, said Antoni Fogue, a city council member. But town hall and
cemetery officials waged a campaign to explain the project and the panels
were erected at a low angle, to be as unobtrusive as possible.”This
installation is compatible with respect for the deceased and for the families
of the deceased,” Fogue said.
Necessity is the mother of invention OR don’t just lay there, make yourself
useful!

End of March
Marilyn Brown signed a contract on July 7, 2007 with Alfred Soleck, a Oklahoma
contractor from her mother’s church, to build her home. After starting the build
and needing more and more of the money up front, he left them high and dry. Mr.
Soleck was arrested in Oklahoma on federal charges that included 6 criminal counts
of home repair fraud. Volunteers have been helping the Browns in building the
house and when the volunteers have to leave, well, its one day at a time. (more…)

Instead of repeating myself for the 1 millionth time,
I am placing in this blog the answer to the question I am
asked when I am out of state. Consistently and with indignation
I’m grilled with “What’s up with, Don’t Mess with Texas?”
Well, I am here to tell you that this slogan is a LITTER
CAMPAIGN, FOLKS! Calm down. We do have a lot of bragging
rights but this is one that we do really believe in.
Should you throw trash out your car or truck, odds are
someone will get your license plate number, description
of you and call the Texas Rangers. They will certainly
have a come to Jesus meeting with you!
Even the Texas Department of Transportation sows wild flower
seeds every year along the highways so that you can enjoy
beautiful Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrushes, etc. on your
long travels through our state. That is until June when
everything starts burning to a crisp as the hot weather
really kicks in.
This also includes DUMPING of tires, trash, washers,
dryers and God knows what else into our rivers, on land,
and beaches.
I am proud to be a Texan with this slogan. But it does
not mean you have worry about getting the tar beat out
of you. Plain and simple, it’s a litter campaign that
really works…. apparently.

Lights out!
Tonight, the world will be participating in a 1 hour
lights out campaign. During that 1 hour of lights out,
everyone is urged to replace their light bulbs with
the new bulbs.
Big cities all over the world are turning the lights
out in their downtown areas which will not only conserve
energy but show people that they are concerned about
the climate change that is happening now.
Are you going to participate? YES! I believe you will…
