There is an article that follows the process it takes to turn a bottle into
fabric, from the chipped plastic bits that resemble snow cone filling to the
fiber filaments that “feel eerily like human hair gone unwashed for so long
that it’s soft with grease.” There’s also some great photos, and surprising
facts like it takes just 10 plastic bottles to make a pound of fiber. (more…)

A group of students at Cornell University in Syracuse, New York have
designed a car that will go 100 mpg. Cornell’s AXP team formed in the
spring of 2007, are hoping to take home the 10 million dollar prize offered
by Progressive Insurance. The students claims that the car should be ready
to go by as early as May 2009! Some of the sponsors are GE, Lockheed Martin,
Toyota, Popular Mechanics, Tektronics, and Exide. (more…)

I am going off topic today thanks to my satellite company deciding to cut me off
for a 24 hour period yesterday. Since this was my first experience with paying
hard earned money to be unjustly punished, pardon me while I rave on!
Yesterday morning, I poured my first cup of coffee, posted my article and went
back to correct something when I received the deadly web acceleration error.
Since I had not rebooted my laptop or reset the modem in a while, I cold booted
both of them. Everything lit up like a charm. I tried accessing the internet
and again received the web acceleration error. So, Stupid me, decided to call
customer support to find out the nature of the problem. (more…)
