Quirky and Garthen Leslie teamed up together to actually create Garthen’s idea. It came to fruition this week.
The smart air conditioner can be controlled by your phone. Say you want to turn off the air as you leave for work and have it back on and comfortable when you get home. This is now a feasible product.
The Quirky + GE branded Aros will be available this summer in Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Best Buy, P.C. Richard & Son, and Target. For now, the $300 smart air conditioner can be pre-ordered on Amazon, where more than $5 million in sales have already been rung up.
This little air conditioner has made Garthen one half of a million dollars.
Not bad for an idea that GE, Quirky and Garthen Leslie put together. On the other side, we as consumers win.
Now if they can put a thermostat on a window unit or a timer or humidity free, then we have a real winner.
