So is this something you would put over your roof tiles? I am a bit confused, I could see using this on a tin roof, but a tiled one, not so sure.

Hi Linda! Thanks for "spreading" the word about this roof coating (pun definitely intended).

It's truly incredible, over a 50 degree difference between roofs! Also, you can imagine, in a townhouse built in 1974 (in Nevada) codes weren't what they are today (when any particular builder actually makes an effort to follow said codes).

This is also our first time living with a flat roof. That means no attic access and without our trusty room gauge (we read the walls and ceiling), we would have never known exactly what sort of difference this roof heat reflecting (and btw cold protection) is really doing.

But wow! A 50+ degree difference!

You mention one gallon, I think it was closer to two, but I'm not sure. He bought two five-gallon drums of ElastaHyde, and still has plenty left in the first drum. It's got a staying power of up to 15 years actually depending on how thick you put it on.

Also, the manufacturer does recommend you wash the roof at least once a year. That doesn't mean scrubbing, just rinsing it off with a hose and sweeping up the dust, that sort of thing, to prevent dirt layers from stopping the paint to work.

It's strength is incredible. Something like 600+ psi.

Anyway, you can see we're excited and yes, temperatures can only continue to go up. So you bet... he's the handyman (although I make a heck of a good sweeper LOL). Time's a wasting - don't want to be doing the rest in 100+ temperatures!
