Thanks Linda,
Now if only all of us Earth Inhabitants would take the pledge to recognize that the Loan of Earth’s resources needs to be passed on in better shape than we received it,,, then perhaps our future generations would have a chance to enjoy the gifts of Mother Nature.

Hi RE …. Well you’re remembering the actor Iron Eyes Cody (1904-1999). We Baby Boomers remember well the famous ad first aired for the 2nd Earth Day in 1971. A Native American paddles along a polluted, debris filled river, past belching smokestacks, landing at a trashed up river bank, near a highway. There someone throws a bag of trash out of a passing car that lands and burst open at his feet. Panning up to his face, you see one lone tear rolling down his cheek.
In fact that one minute ad sparked my life-long environmental commitment.
Ironically Iron Eyes Cody was not Native-American, he was born to Italian-American immigrants. But preferred to live his life, on-screen and off, in the ways of the Native-American culture.
As far as I’m concerned, they should run that ad again with a caption – “If we had listened then, how far would we be now.”

Hi Linda,
What a great find. I remember Smokey. He taught us well. I think we need more of that as well as more people seeing this video. I like how it reminds us the beauty that surrounds us is just on loan and it’s up to us to either help preserve it or take responsibility for the damage that’s done.

Excellent video! It’s our environmental responsibility to clean up Mother Earth. As children, we were told time and time again to clean up after ourselves, so as adults things shouldn’t change. Luckily today, we’re seeing more and more eco-friendly businesses and products, which are a terrific way to help the environment – now if only everyone could jump on board to leave a more positive impact on our planet.

Humans should take action with this. It is definitely time for us to take responsibility for the damages we have done to mother earth. It’s just so bad to think that we have only realize it now.

Hi johnmarc … It is very sad that we have to cleanup after ourselves when we could of been much further along in our quest to keep going green.
