NOW You Get Mad?

We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, NOW you get mad!?

imagesThis article entails, for the most part, an email I received edited to include components for which this site was created:

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.

You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.
You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.
You didn’t get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. You finally got mad when regulations and legislation is put in place to protect the planet. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans and the planet too! …oh hell no.

This is a country built on diversity, every country on this planet is represented in America. It is what makes us strong. Working for a better tomorrow for ALL our children, not just those we give birth.

It does take a village and we must take care of the village – a village called Earth.

….. as the green future unfolds.

waw. sounds like the writer is the one who’s mad. just kidding. but i’m for the healthcare reform of obama, although i’m not a citizen of your country. 😀

  2. Linda Says:

Hi Fetus … Thanks for the vote on healthcare. It is good to know that even folks around the world care about folks around the world.

Hi Theresa … Amen! Sister Girl! 😀

Hi Apollo …. I hope to God, health care reform will not fail because something drastic needed to be done. Just last week here in Texas came news that a young couple’s ten-day old baby born with a severe heart defect needs immediate surgery. Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas denied the infant the surgery because they deemed it “preexisting”. These kids have been paying for their coverage for way over a year. You know that is not righteous, in fact it’s just plain cruel.

I understand this is an environmental blog, I will be back more on point soon. That said, as an American and having been one since since birth, 2 days before dirt, I have the right to my express my point of view. Although I try real hard not to let party affiliations filter in this site, once in a great while I just simply can’t help myself.

I had a good Easter my young friend, how was yours?

  3. Theresa Says:

While a departure from your usual, I am happy to hear you speak your mind. You are right. We all are part of this world and each person counts. Party affiliations should be eliminated completely and people need to think for themselves.

  4. Apollo Says:

    Hi Linda,

I enjoy your blog and there is plenty of great content, but this post I need to strongly disagree with. The health care reform will severely backfire and actually make the health care issue worse while it will add even more debt to an already bankrupt country. This will not be evident to the ‘average joe’ until it is too late. I respect your opinion on this matter, but I think you have much more knowledge about green innovations and suggest you stick to those as they have turned your blog into a great resource. I look forward to more post from you in the future. I hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend 🙂

Today I wrote about the whole unmasking of the murder tapes by WikiLeaks. apparently no one wants to believe that the us government is into killing civilians’ kids; journalists; old people; and anybody who knows that they will kill you for he heck of it. I just hope that people start to belive what is happening right before their eyes before we are all in body bags.

Hi Re … I will go and take a peek!

  7. Calgary Catering Says:

It’s not that everything else was OK with us. Health care may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Any idea who originally wrote this email?

  8. Linda Says:

Hi Calgary Catering … No, I do not know who originally wrote it but it has been going around.

  9. injaynesworld Says:

Great post. Thank you. Much the same “end of the world” rantings took place when Social Security and Medicare were signed into law. Now many of those same fine folks calling Obama a socialist for passing health insurance reform are sucking at the tits of both those programs think they’re just fine.

The HCR bill just passed is modeled after the same one that Republican Mitt Romney pass in Massachusetts. Yeah, Mitt Romney. And we all know what a “socialist” he is.

A lot remains to be done on health care reform, but at least now we’re beginning to reign in some of the atrocities perpetrated by the insurance companies.

And yes. It does take a village. A civilized society is one where there is always a balance between individual rights and community responsibility. We’ve become a nation all about “getting mine, and the hell with our neighbor.” That’s got to change.

Thanks again for a fine post. Found you on Tribal.

  10. Linda Says:

Hi Injaynesworld …. I saw you on Adgitize. Glad to meet ya! Thank you for your wisdom. It is nice to know that there are others out there that see the need to help each other. 😀

  11. Barbara Says:

You go girl! Nice to hear you sound off. At least, there is something on paper now, when it comes to HCR. Will there be amendments to it? That remains to be seen. But, it is a long overdue place to start! 🙂

  12. Linda Says:

Hi Barbara … Thank You! I have no idea why us humans cannot help each other without the big gnashing of teeth. However, it is a start! 😀

  13. Apollo Says:

    Hi Linda,

I had a great Easter as well, thanks. Of course you are allowed to speak your mind. I agree that healthcare reform is desperately needed. It has been needed for over three decades and the U.S. has among the least efficient systems in the industrialized world with really crappy services in big parts of the country.

Yes, reform is needed and I fully support it. Having said that, the reform proposed WILL fail and those who support it now will realize that once it is too late. Not only will the proposed reform fail, it will make a bad system right now even worse and at the time the negative effects are apparent to those who hope it will work the country will have reached a point that another reform will not be possible from a fiscal standpoint and that is when the real problems will start.

I can give an A for the idea of reform, but an F for execution. A great idea with piss-poor management is never a good idea. Yes, there was a chance to at least improve a bad system, but of course politicians have failed miserably which should not be a surprise as there is a lack of true leadership out there.

Assume that your car breaks down, would you take it to the bakery to get it fixed?

No, unless you are an idiot, you will take it to the shop and have a mechanic check it out. Having this administration forcing a lousy constructed reform is the same as taking your car to your bakery.

It is a start, the start of more bad news on that front in the future.

  14. Linda Says:

Hi Apollo … All I know is as long as people will no longer be denied care because of so called “pre-existing” conditions or “other” technicalities AND miminum wage employees and employees of small businesses can get AFFORDABLE health care, I see way more good than harm.

  15. Apollo Says:

Well Linda, it will not be affordable to start with. I agree that the pre-exisiting conditions needed to be wiped out as that is unfair. As I mentioned earlier, the idea is good but the execution will be pisspoor at best and therefore the results will not be what you and other supporters were made to believe they will be. The involvement of the government in itself ensures that it will not work and there are other factors as well which 100% guarantee failure. It may make a few people along the way happy, but overall it will deteriorate the system even further.

  16. Linda Says:

Hi Apollo … Well, our weapon is one person one vote. We seem to be at an impasse on whether this was a right move or not. If I am right that it was a necessary move, as good as we could get it for now, then we are all better for it. If you are right, then you get to say “I told you so” when we share that basketride to hell! 😀

  17. Apollo Says:

    Very well said Linda 🙂

  20. Earth Friendly Goodies Says:

What gets me is the blatant hostility between the two parties and the whole country for that matter. It seems everywhere you turn someone is ranting and raving “I’m right and you are wrong”. Whether it is the health care bill or the housing recovery act it is the same response. The important thing on all these tough issues is that something is being done. It may not be the perfect solution, but it is a step in the right direction – if we sit in our houses of fume and fury blaming and criticizing the other side nothing will get done.

That’s my rant and I’m sticking to it. 🙂
