Hi Deden ... Thanks for dropping by!!! It will take time but folks have been complaining for a long time. Especially, the elderly as some of the packaging is really hard for them to open. We will get there!

It seems like this method uses very minimal packaging and it is also great that it is from 100% recycled materials. I hope more companies would follow the lead of this very progressive company.

I loved the design and it's much better than the ordinary rectangle shoebox, Linda.

PS: By the way, thanks for the suggestion and I'll consider your proposal, Linda :)

Hi Jenny ... I know, I have been following your recycling issue for quite a while now. There does not seem to be anyone ponying up to the bar to take it off of your hands even though the country has taken to recycling by storm. I am with you, hopefully someone here or around the world will take notice and start buying. Unfortunately, the world economy is not helping!

It's great to hear about ANY company doing it's bit to reduce and improve packaging.

However, the average person might buy a couple of pairs of shoes per year. Every week we go to the supermarket and bring home a huge mountain of totally un-recyclable packaging that ends up in landfill.

Only a few years ago, supermarkets here used to put their empty cardboard boxes in a skip in the store for people to fill up with groceries rather than using bags. Now we are expected to BUY bags we can re-use for a few months, but are not re-cyclable in themselves.

Even with incentives like extra loyalty points, they are still giving away millions of ordinary plastic bags every week. Only one or two chains are using more quickly degradable bags made from cornstarch etc.

In the UK, we are running out of places to bury our rubbish, and there are warehouses full of re-cyclable materials like card and paper that no-one now wants to buy. Perhaps with more companies like the one you mention, the demand for paper and card will grow to make this type of packaging.

I like the design of the "box" and that they are using 100% post consumer recycled material to make it but in terms of reusing the container, a traditional shoebox seems like a better option. But then again, one of big focuses is reusing things.

Why not make a traditional shoebox out of 100% post consumer recycled material and stuff socks in the toes of the shoes in the box instead of tissuepaper? My husband the runner LOVES the idea of ditching the tissue paper for a new pair of socks!
