I am surrounded by 40 miles of tree farms that grow nothing but evergreen pines. I am acutely aware of deforestation and the trees we use for Christmas here are no more than 5 years old and are quickly replaced. It is a sustainable resource and is much better for the environment because at the end of its use it is turned into mulch or used as shoreline re-enforcement.
