Hurricane Ike

Well folks, here comes hurricane Ike.  His path is predicted to hit between
Galveston and Corpus Christi.  Should that be the case, I am going to be hit
pretty hard as I will be on the dirty side of the storm.  As of tonight, they
are predicting anywhere from 30 – 60 mph sustained winds, possible tornados,
drenching rains of 6 – 8 inches.  So, it is going to be a rock n roll weekend.

I am battening down the hatches again this week.  We just had a heck of a storm
day before yesterday, got 2 inches of rain in 1 hour, lots of wind along with
ground lightening and thunder that would rip your ears off.  My parents across
the pasture, lost their garage roof.  If they did not have this huge oak tree
in front of their back door, they would of had all of that metal, through the
back of the house.  So, we are in the process of trying to figure out what to
do with the metal since Ike is on his way.  The sides, the door and the rafters
are the only thing left of that garage.  Not sure tarping the garage will even
last with the winds that are predicted to hit us.

I do declare that I have enough of this hurricane season.  So I have decided to
pick my acre up and move it to the moon.  Air is a little thin up there but the
weather is calm.  And I am all into calm right now.

I will give updates as I can.  We will lose power this time around no matter
where it lands on the Texas coast.  Even if it lands in Mexico City, we will
have a sympathy outage!

I moved to East Texas from Houston to get away from these storms with the
knowledge that I would not be hit as hard.  But nobody told me that I would
be in the crossroads of each and every hurricane that hits Louisiana or Texas.

The next self proclaimed genius that tries to convince me that global warming
is NOT having an impact on this planet, I am going to untie myself from this
oak tree and choke him to death.

In other news….. the super collider was tested today in Switzerland and
guess what? We are still here! Yeah!

I completely forgot about the super collider! Yay for still being alive.

Good luck with Ike and being tied to a tree. I hope the tree doesn’t decide to uproot itself and find another place to grow.

Hi Matthew … LOL! My hopes exactly! 🙂

  3. Condo Blues Says:

Good luck dealing with the hurricane. I hope you have a good storm shelter just in case that oak tree takes flight and wants to take you to The Land of Oz.

I agree with cheering that we made it through the super collider experiment. The whole “it might make black holes and distroy the Earth” sounded too much like a plot from Dr. Who.

  4. Linda Says:

Hi Condo … Nope, have yet to build one. Too busy being lashed to a tree that may or may not take flight!

There was a character who tried to stop the experiment and he kinda looked like Dr. Who! 🙂

    Hi Linda,
I have had you in my mind heaps through all this wild weather that I have been hearing about.
    Stay safe!
Are there any snakes on the moon? lol

Hey Leanne … Nope! no snakes on the moon which makes it even more inviting to move to! Although, I might get their faster than I think!

    LOL, we will try!

  7. Barbara Says:

I hate to think of you there with no root cellar or shelter! Please do keep us posted if at all possible. Hope you will be safe!

Hey Barbara … Safety is the Number 1 goal.

  9. Mike@EasyGreensy Says:

Good luck Linda! I hope all goes well down there. Ya know, there is an acre and a half across the road from me in VT for sale. Has a house (that needs lots of work) but other than several feet of snow each year we are (I’m gonna jinx myself) pretty immune from major weather problems.

And as all the T-shirts say: “Vermont, we were green before green was cool”. Not that I lived here then, but I like it anyway. Come to think of it… I wasn’t that green then either.

Hey Mike … If you just did not jinx yourself and the whole state of VT, then I probably would by moving up there even if I did it ever so quietly because I think they are starting to seek me out!

  11. Linda Says:

Hi Barbara … So far so good! The winds are starting to kick up and the rain is not far off!

Thank you as I will stay safe!

I still remember that you have told me that there are at least 10 or more hurricanes in your living place and you’ve already familiar with the current situation.

NO matter what, I still glad that you’re all right, Linda…

Hi Wilson … I still have the right to complain about it! LOL …. we are still safe!
