Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Planet Green has a new series called TOTAL WRECKLAMATION …..

When a home faces extinction, what happens to all of the materials that make up
that home?  Enter Jodi Murphy – green entrepreneur, demolition auctioneer and
force of nature.  Once a house is slated to come down or be gutted, Jodi makes
it her business – literally – to save as much of its contents and materials as
possible from ending up in the landfill. (more…)

Back on the Map!

Ron Shank and Levi Garrett described how scared they were with the weather
that had the tornado whistle blowing.  Everyone hit the bunkers and waited
for the storm to pass.  Ron’s GM Dealership had some hail damage. The new
church suffered some water damage.

City Council meet to get BNIM’s Master plan approved and the presentation is made.
Council approves the plan with a 5-0 vote. (more…)

Birk Economics – Makes sense

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I don’t know this Birk guy, but I sure like his logic…  Something for the
Capitalists. Something for the “Spread the wealth Socialists.”  Makes sense to me!

The Birk Economic  Recovery Plan

Hi, Pals!

I’m  against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, Im in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
a We Deserve It Dividend.

To  make the math simple, lets assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,  woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and  up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00. (more…)

An Idea I really Like!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

There is this site that is absolutely futuristic in everything.  I just could
not resist the vertical farm idea.

The skyscraper concept is gaining more attention as world food prices soar.

Dr Despommier created his concept in 1999 with graduate students during a class on medical ecology.

With the world’s population expected to increase to 3 billion by 2050 and almost 80 per cent of farming land in use, the idea has never been more relevant.

Despommieren has used the internet and a series of lectures to spread his concept.

However, despite the neat simplicity of his idea, Dr Despommier is treated with suspicion in academic circles.

‘I’m viewed as kind of an outsider because it’s kind of a crazy idea,’ Dr Despommier says.

Not put off, Despommier, has pushed for city planners in America to take his project seriously.

Please take a moment and visit to read more about it!  I am glad I did!

An Eco Rock Singer

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The stylings of Jack Johnson who is a singer and songwriter. He is not one
of the musicians who wreck hotel rooms, smash their guitar to smithereens,
or the normal shenanigans. He is just the opposite. He is setting an example
of using a completely carbon neutral platform for his tours or commonly known
as “going green”.

He refuses to tour in the winter as that is when the best waves hit his native
Hawaii islands. He is a low keyed individual of the likes of Paul Simon. (more…)

May 2008

The new city council is meeting for the first time.  Mayor Dixson asked Steve
Hewitt to give the administration update.  Steve lets the council know that
the business incubator is fully funded.  Kim Alderfer, Recovery Coordinator,
and Steve visit the business incubator site only to find that 3 days of rain
has slowed all activity.

Tyler Schmidt is running for student body president.  Shane Engelken is also
running for student body president.  They put their flyers together, hung
them in the most unique areas and are getting their speeches ready. (more…)

My Acre is Dancing!

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Since before Hurricane Ike came to town, we lost electricity.  The generator
has been my close friend for about 6 days.

My generator is a 6500 watt 13 hp JEWEL.  It takes 5 gallons of regular
gas and burns at a rate of 12 – 13 hours at a pop.  If you time it right,
you do not have to run out in the middle of the night to re-fill the tank.

I have learned alot about generators these days due to the parents going
kaput on Sunday night.  Theirs just simple wore out from years of use.  It
blew out the muffler, starting blowing oil, and then found copper windings (more…)
