I found this to be amazing, “If every house in Los Angeles had solar panels installed it could
easily power the whole state of California.” Can you imagine? Then if other cities and states followed suit, we could really reduce our power needs. Do you think we’ll see a decrease in the cost of solar panels or other alternative ways to capture the energy of the sun>

Hi mcangeli ... The story you are referencing about the woman being fined thousands actually morphed from a story concerning a woman who allegedly spent thousands of dollars cleaning up from a cfl bulb breaking. Totally agree with you about LEDs but cfls are the only way to go for now. Hi Green Blog ... Yep! I agree. When I read your blog post on the “going green” tips, that really reminds me on how many things that we can actually do for our environment. Small little things can really add up a lot to make a huge difference. Here’s the problem I have with CFL’s. You cannot just “throw” them away with the trash.

They have to be disposed of properly because they do contain mercury. There was a case with in the past year or so where a woman was fined $5,000 by the epa because she broke a CFL in her house and did not clean it up properly.

That bulb that saved her $72 ended up costing her much, much more!

I’m waiting for the day that LED bulbs are wide spread for room sized applications (almost all of the nightlights in our house are using LED bulbs…)
