Hi Brad … I guess you do not get over 85 degrees where you are, if that high. We need fans here due to the sweltering heat and humidity!

Strangely enough I never think about running all our ceiling fans in the winter. But of course it makes perfect sense to move air around, as long as they are pointing in the right direction. I’ll have to remember that – it’s hard to think “winter” when we are sweltering here in Las Vegas LOL!

Oh, and while I’m here, your Hemp Sister banner intrigued me so I clicked through. I’ve got my eye on the slippers and some of their soap!

Hi Barbara … Any little bit helps especially with hot or cooled air escaping the house. Since you are going to paint your exterior, have you thought of using an additive that will work in any paint, and when applied, will insulate your house? Hit the link to your left here and check it out!

I put solar roller shades on the north windows of my house and they’ve cut the sun’s heat coming in the house during summer. Originally, I got them because I liked the industrial look of them and I didn’t want the neighbors peeking into my windows . I was really surprised because I didn’t buy the really expensive shades I’ve seen advertised on many green sites, mine came from a discount store. Cheap and green, who knew?

Great tip on the fans…I always had that backwards!!
Another thing that is help is to ensure the the attic is properly insulated.
