Texas Tea

Oil was once known as “Texas Tea“.  Well the tea is now new and improved
and healthy too! Introducing – “Texas Light and Breezy Tea“!……

Texas Utility Officials are planning more transmission lines to bring
wind energy from West Texas to the state’s urban areas.  Environmental
Groups says Texas Electric customers will see a $4.00 increase in their
monthly bills to pay for construction costs over the next 6 to 7 years.
The state leads the nation in wind power production. Now you see why
T. Boone jumped off the oil wagon on to the wind wagon.

In one day, the energy from sunshine falling on a single acre of land in
West Texas is capable of producing the power equivalent of 800 barrels of
oil each year. Texas has the most solar potential in the United States,
followed well behind by Montana.

CPS Energy (owned by the city of San Antonio), has teamed up with Silver
Ventures, a San Antonio Company, to install a roof full of solar panels at
a 87,000 square foot former wharehouse being rebuilt at the shuttered Pearl
Brewery on the northern end of downtown.

The company has been reworking the historic structures at the old brewery
and adding new consruction to create an urban center that includes
residential, commercial, retail, educational and entertainment facilities
that covers 22 acres.

The panels are capable of generating 200 kilowatts of electricity,
equal to about 1/4 of the buildings total energy needs. It also has the
most energy efficient air conditioning systems available.  In addition,
it has a system that captures, stores and recycles rainwater for
irrigation on the landscaping.

The solar panels were installed in June and tenants are due to start
moving into the building in August.
