Hazardous Household Waste Disposal

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

AFter searching and searching for waste disposal sites in Texas, I have come up pretty
much empty as far as actual sites go. They will tell you what items are considered
hazardous household waste. These items are listed below.

* Fluorescent light bulbs (including compact fluorescent light bulbs)
* Oil-based paints
* Some anti-mildew and exterior latex paints
* Some wood stains
* Fuels (gasoline, propane, diesel)
* Corrosive cleaners (such as lye-based oven cleaners) (more…)

Nucor "A Green Company"

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

A young Jewett, Texas mother told me her 7 year old son came home from school with a
packet of wildflower seeds stapled to a letter. The letter was dated April 22, Earth
Day. It was from a company called Nucor, and it said (not quoting here), that it was
giving these wildflower seeds to all the young school children to experience their
first occasion to participate in Earth Day, and watch the wonder of beautiful flowers
grow from seeds they planted with their own hands. (more…)

Cafepress

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Remember all those times you thought, “I should put that on a T-shirt”?

Launched in 1999, CafePress.com has empowered individuals, organizations and
businesses to create, buy and sell customized merchandise online using the company’s
unique print-on-demand and e-commerce services.

What’s Your Passion?TM — politics, babies, music, pets, sci-fi, knitting — there’s
something for everyone at CafePress.com

The most popular item is the white T-Shirt; over three-quarters of a million standard
white T-Shirts were purchased in the first six years. CafePress also handles all the
fulfillment, customer service, returns and the other hassles of merchandise that you
probably don’t want to manage.

In the unlikely event that you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can make it.
And then you can sell it, should you choose, to anyone who shares your passion for
going green, eco friendly, environmental or any thing you can think of.

Give them a try, they are a great company to work with.

GreenSwitch™

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

A new going green product to reduce your electric bill. Even when powered down, all of your
computer desk equipment, your pc, printer, modem, etc., are consuming power. All of
the little LED lights that are on means you are sucking approximately 100
watts of energy. So why not put in a switch that will turn off these items when you
are done for the evening or during the day.

The GreenSwitch™ system was originally developed to control energy consumption in the
hospitality/hotel industry. (more…)

Update to the RV Cover

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Well, after a month of fighting the weather, the frame of the RV cover, and just
plain physical stamina, a conclusion has been reached.

At first, the selection of pvc was made due to the pricing, cheap! However, after
you go above 10 feet, it becomes pretty useless to handle a load, muchless wind.
There have been 20 – 60 mph winds here for the last 5 months and the frame is not
handling it well. Have tried every which way possible to brace the top to handle (more…)

Disposing Television Sets

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

I do not know about you, but here in East Texas, they have been advertising about
the transition to digital signal for your TV in February, 2009.

So your analog TV will not receive a signal from your local channels with an
antenna. You will have to purchase a digital converter for $50.00 in order (more…)
